In 1888, most of the town of Umeå was destroyed in a devastating fire. When the town was rebuilt, birch trees were planted along the streets to prevent any future fires from spreading rapidly. The tradition of planting birch trees in Umeå continues to this day, which is why Umeå is known as the "City of Birches." As Nordic Chocolate celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2024, we are honoring our hometown with a chocolate bar infused with birch. We also add sea buckthorn, whose tart notes provide a perfect balance to the birch-infused chocolate.
Our very first trip to visit cacao cooperatives took us to Ecuador and Peru—partners with whom we still work today. This chocolate bar is crafted using beans from these regions.
Ingredients: Stone-ground cacao beans, sugar, cacao butter, birch, sea buckthorn.
Weight: 90 grams
Store in a cool place (16–18°C). Enjoy at room temperature.
