In the highlands of Guji, Ethiopia, small-scale farmers play a crucial role in the production of exceptional coffee. This coffee comes from the Raro Boda kebele in Guji, where over 700 small-scale producers grow local varieties on small family farms located at an altitude of 2,300 meters.

Once picked, the coffee berries are delivered to a local washing station where they are processed using the berry-dried method. This method, which involves drying the berries in the sun, highlights the coffee’s rich and fruity flavors. The result is a vibrant cup with notes of red berries, watermelon and plum, reflecting both the farmers’ skill and the meticulous processing.

Ethiopia is the country of origin of coffee, with regions like Guji known for their unique flavor profiles and traditional growing techniques. By partnering with washing stations, these small-scale farmers are able to offer their high-quality coffee to a wider audience, while preserving the heritage of Ethiopian coffee.
