Elexir Collagen consists of 100% marine collagen type I. The collagen is extracted from sustainably farmed freshwater fish. Elexir Collagen is hydrolysed (degraded) for better absorption in the body and dissolves easily in water, juice, smoothie or other liquid of your choice. Neutral taste.
The building material of the body
Collagen is a protein that builds up skin, bones and tendons, among other things. Collagen, in turn, consists of different amino acids in varying compositions, and it is estimated that there are as many as 16 different types of collagen in our body.
The most common are collagen types I and III, which occur mainly in hair, skin, nails, muscles and bones. Collagen type I accounts for about 90% of all collagen in our body. The third variant that is usually focused on is collagen type II, which dominates in joints and cartilage.
Decreases with age
The body has the ability to continuously produce its own collagen, but this ability declines with increasing age. The reduction starts already at the age of 25 and when we pass 60+, production has decreased by almost a third. One of the direct indications of reduced collagen production is that the skin becomes thinner, wrinkled and drier.
Dominating the body
Close to 75% of the skin is made up of collagen, and collagen is the dominant protein in the body. Connective tissue, which is one of the body's main building materials, consists of 80% collagen.
USE
Recommended daily intake for adults: 2 scoops (approx. 5 g) / daily on an empty stomach before breakfast in a glass of water or other drink of your choice.
