Elexir MSM + vitamin C is a mix of the element sulfur and vitamin C. MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a natural source of organic sulfur. Sulfur is part of every human cell and is actually one of the more common elements in the body and the concentration is strongest in protein-rich tissues such as muscles, bones, cartilage as well as skin, hair and nails.
Sulfur
Sulfur is an element and is found in very high concentration in the body. Sulfur enters our bodies mainly through the food we eat, but the process actually starts in the sea. In the sea, algae produce sulfur-rich substances that leave the water and rise into the air, where the sun's rays convert these substances into, among other things, MSM. In nature's cycle of sun and rain, MSM falls to the ground and is taken up by vegetation. When we then eat vegetables, fish, poultry, meat or eggs/dairy products, we get the sulphur.
The amount of sulfur varies
It has been established that there is slightly more sulfur in meat than in vegetables, but regardless of food philosophy, our foods provide us with the sulfur that every cell in the body needs. However, our stock of sulfur can be affected by individual factors, for example how well we can break down protein and thus how we assimilate nutrients from our food. Likewise, certain medications can affect the amount of sulfur, as can our age.
