Apotekarnes was formed when Stockholm's pharmacists merged into Apotekarnes Mineralvattens AB on May 2, 1874. From the start, 37 different types of water were sold in pharmacies and in special water shops and kiosks. However, Apotekarnes did not produce any soft drinks for many years, only so-called soft drinks, i.e. soda, seltzer and Vichy water. At a board meeting in 1908, it was decided that Apotekarnes would immediately focus on soft drinks, primarily sugar drinks, ginger drinks and a champagne drink. Shortly afterwards, Citron-Brus was also launched. Must was launched in 1910 as an alternative to beer. Must has many similarities to traditional dark beer. Christmas must has a dark color, foams well and has a taste of hops and malt. The drink has become the whole family's holiday soft drink under the names Christmas must and Easter must. Must is one of the most Swedish things there is and today it is difficult to imagine a Swedish Christmas table without must. Christmas must goes with most things. A good complement to the savory food on the Christmas table, but also to the sweet Christmas sweets or to an Advent coffee.
