Mainly used for nosebleeds but also works well for bleeding such as e.g. cuts, abrasions or shaving wounds. The wadding consists of natural fibers containing calcium alginate which causes the blood to coagulate (solidify). Calcium alginate is a salt of alginic acid and occurs naturally in certain types of seaweed along the coasts of Norway.
