The most common causes of acute diarrhea are intestinal infections, but other causes can also cause diarrhea such as food hypersensitivity, common viral diseases, treatment with antibiotics and bacteria or toxins in food.
With both vomiting and diarrhoea, the body loses fluid and salts, something that children are more sensitive to than adults and which means that the disease can quickly worsen. A ready mix of fluid replacement ensures that the right amount of sugar and salt as well as minerals are included for quick and safe recovery. ESPGHAN (European Pediatric Association) recommends that the osmolality of fluid replacement for children should be between 200 and 250 mOsm/kg H2O. Semper's fluid replacement has an osmolality of 220 mOsm/kg H2O, which means that it is quickly absorbed by the body, restores the salt and fluid balance and thus provides a quick recovery.
Studies have shown that supplementation with zinc reduces the duration of acute diarrhea. WHO and UNICEF therefore recommend the use of zinc in oral rehydration for children. Fluid replacement + contains Limosilactobacillus reuteri Protectis® L. reuteri is a patented, natural lactic acid bacterium.
