🥔 Traditional Pitepalt with Lingonberries & Butter
(Norrbottnisk husmanskost på riktigt!)
A rich, filling dish from northern Sweden made easy with Kungsörnen’s ready mix — perfect for cozy evenings and a true taste of tradition.
🧂 Ingredients (serves 4):
1 packet Kungsörnen Pitepalt mix (1,000 g)
250–300 g salted pork belly or smoked ham, cut into small cubes
Butter (for serving)
Salt for boiling water
👩🍳 Instructions:
In a large bowl, mix the Kungsörnen Pitepalt mix with water according to the package instructions to form a thick dough.
Wet your hands and form balls of dough (approx. the size of a golf ball).
Press a cube or two of pork into the center of each dough ball, then seal and roll smooth.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a gentle boil. Carefully drop in the palt and simmer for about 45–60 minutes, until they float and feel firm.
Remove with a slotted spoon and serve hot.
🥄 To serve:
Add a generous pat of butter on top
Spoon over lingonberry jam
Optional: serve with a glass of cold milk — the traditional Swedish way!
💡 Tip: For a vegetarian twist, leave out the pork and fill with sautéed mushrooms and onions instead.
