Hedexin is an over-the-counter, herbal medicine used for phlegm cough. The active ingredient in Hedexin is ivy extract. Hedexin is a syrup with a sweet taste that is taken twice a day. One bottle is enough for 8 days of use. Talk to your doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse after 7 days of use.

Phlegm cough is a productive cough where mucus forms in the airways. The symptoms are a cough with thick mucus and a rattling sound when coughing, inhaling and exhaling. It is often difficult to cough up the irritating mucus. A phlegm cough, or productive cough, is often the result of an upper respiratory tract infection caused by a cold virus. The infection irritates the mucous membranes in the airways, causing thick, tough mucus to form.
Dosage
Use Hedexin twice a day. Adults and adolescents from 12 years of age: 6 ml of syrup. Children 6 – 11 years: 4 ml syrup. Children 2 – 5 years: 2 ml of syrup. Persistent or recurrent cough in children aged 2-4 years requires medical investigation before treatment. Do not use for children under 2 years of age or if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Use the included measuring spoon with 2 and 4 ml graduations. Shake the bottle before use. If you use Hedexin but do not experience any improvement in symptoms within a week or feel worse, a doctor or pharmacist should be contacted and consulted. If you have stomach problems, such as heartburn, burning in the pit of the stomach, stomach pain, nausea or stomach ulcers, you should consult a doctor before taking Hedexin.

The Swedish Medicines Agency assesses the quality, safety and efficacy of medicines before they are approved or registered for marketing in Sweden. Hedexin is approved by the Swedish Medicines Agency as a non-prescription, well-established plant-based medicine.
Content
1 ml of syrup contains 8.25 mg dry extract of ivy (Hedera helix L., folium). Extractant: ethanol 30% (m/m). Other ingredients: liquid sorbitol (non-crystallizing) (E 420), potassium sorbate, xanthan gum, anhydrous citric acid and water. The content is enough for 8 days of use.
