Niferex is a medicine and a form of iron that is taken by mouth and is used in the treatment of, or to prevent iron deficiency. The capsules are called enteric capsules because they do not secrete their contents in the stomach. They instead release the iron into the intestine, where it is then absorbed into the body.
The duration of treatment to prevent iron deficiency varies depending on the situation and your doctor decides how long you need to take Niferex. It usually lasts until normal blood levels are reached, which usually takes 10-20 weeks or longer.
Iron contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and hemoglobin.
Iron is also essential for oxygen transport and for the transfer of energy in the body.
Iron helps to reduce fatigue and exhaustion.
Iron has a role in the process of cell division.
Adults and children 6 years of age or older: 1 capsule per day. In case of pronounced iron deficiency: Adults and adolescents from 15 years of age or weighing 50 kg: at the beginning of treatment, 1 capsule 2-3 times daily. Do not take more than 5 mg Niferex per kilogram of body weight. For example, if you weigh 50 kg, the maximum dose is 5X50 = 250 mg (2 ½ capsules) The capsules should be swallowed whole with at least 1/2 glass of liquid Children under 6 years of age should not take Niferex There are no known risks of using Niferex in connection with pregnancy and breastfeeding. Ask your doctor for advice before taking Niferex.
